Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell's former team, the Milwaukee Brewers, are set to play a decisive Game 3 against the New York Mets on Thursday.
Despite a new manager, for most of the game on Wednesday night, it seemed that the Brewers were going to face a similar fate to the one they often had with Counsell. The Brewers were trailing in Wednesday's Game 2 for most of the game before the team had a 3-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning to force a Game 3.
While Brewers' fans are waking up on Thursday relieved that their team is still alive, there is one fan in particular who may have appreciated Wednesday's victory the most.
Cubs' play-by-play man is endears himself to the team's fanbase
Far be it for anyone to tell another individual how they should fan but there often is comedic undertones when there is a fan shown in stands that is taking their role a little bit too seriously. In thinking of that type of fan, it's often Brewers' fans. The smug look on this fan's face, holding his sign up with pride that he willingly chose to miss a major life moment because the team needs him in the stands. If any Cubs fan is being honest, they likely saw that sign and watched with more intent, hoping the Brewers would lose.
Just imagine the Brewers lost that game. A decade later, the family may be talking about the moment they became a family of three and what would the fan have said, "Ope, I missed it because I had to watch the Brewers do what they always do and that is lose immediately after making the postseason".
Nevertheless, the Brewers are alive for at least one more day. As for that fan's marriage, it may be facing an elimination game as well.
