Iowa Cubs (0-1) will continue their home stand against the (St. Louis Cardinals) Memphis Redbirds (1-0), with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. central time. Iowa was hammered by Memphis last night, falling to the Redbirds by the score of 10-2.

Taking the mound tonight for the home team Cubs is right handed pitcher Carlos Pimentel. Pimentel (0-0, 0.00 ERA) was picked up by the Chicago Cubs back in late November as he agree’d to a Minor League contract. Pimentel split the 2013 season with Texas Rangers affiliates’ Frisco and Round Rock. He finished the year with an 8-7 record, 3.87 ERA and 133 strikeouts through 128 innings of work. His ERA has gone up and down over the years, so hopefully this year it will stay somewhat low.

This will be his Iowa Cubs debut.

Starting opposite of Pimentel will be right handed pitcher Angel Castro. Castro (0-0, 0.00 ERA) finished the year with a 8-5 record, 3.48 ERA, 91 strikeouts, and a second career-high 45 earned runs through 116 and one-third innings of work. Short pitcher who was picked up by the Detroit Tigers in the 13th round back in 2006.

Tonight’s lineup for the Iowa Cubs vs Memphis Redbirds game is currently unavailable.
