Down on the Farm: C.J. Edwards to start vs Pensacola

Tonight one of the Cubs top pitching prospects will take the mound for the Tennessee Smokies (0-1) against the (Cincinnati Reds) Pensacola Blue Wahoos (1-0) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m. eastern time.
C.J. Edwards will be picking up his first start tonight for the Smokies, looking to pick up the victory in his first start of the season. Edwards (0-0, 0.00 ERA) split the 2013 season with Texas Rangers affiliate Hickory Crawdads and the Daytona Cubs. He finished the season with a record of 8-2, a beautiful 1.86 ERA and 155 strikeouts through 116 and one-third innings of work. Edwards made his Cactus League debut for the big league club a couple weeks ago.
Taking the mound for the Blue Wahoos is right-hander Daniel Corcino. Corcino (0-0, 0.00 ERA), spent the entire 2013 season with Cincinnati’s Triple-A affiliate. He finished the season with a 7-14 record, 5.86 ERA and 90 strikeouts through 129 innings.
