The Chicago Cubs' front office has stressed that the goal is to make Kyle Tucker fall in love with Wrigley Field before approaching the superstar outfielder with contract extension talks, and it would seem that the first part has already been accomplished.
Over the past week, Tucker has hit a home run in multiple games in which the Cubs were seemingly facing an insurmountable lead before completing an incredible comeback. Considering these games were also against the National League contenders in the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers, Wrigley Field has already had a special feel to it this season.
"For the most part, every game here has been pretty intense and insane."

While there have already been a handful of rumors regarding the Cubs and Tucker's camp talking a new contract, Jed Hoyer set the record straight while being a guest on 670 The Score's midday show on Wednesday afternoon.
“Obviously, we’d love to keep Kyle long term,” Hoyer told Marshall Harris and Mark Grote. “Who wouldn’t want a player like that? I would keep any conversations we’re having internal. It’s hard to negotiate in-season. I’m not sure what’s going to happen with that. If we do have those conversations, we’ll keep them internal. But like I said, he’s really fun to watch. I think he has a huge impact on our entire team, on our entire offense. He’s a player that any team would want to have in the lineup."
It was a rather formulaic response from Hoyer as he likely will be faced with the question until Tucker has a new contract or signs elsewhere, but it's a reminder that the Cubs prefer to keep things tight-lipped until there is momentum building toward a resolution. Case in point, with the Alex Bregman rumors at the end of the offseason, despite rumors throughout the Cubs' stratosphere that the team had made a serious pursuit of the All-Star third baseman, Bregman himself revealed that the Cubs weren't even the runner-up to the Boston Red Sox.
April still feels too early for there to be any substantial talks between the Cubs and Tucker. If talks were to take a serious undertone, that likely will happen closer to the All-Star break. Until then, Cubs fans just need to appreciate that there is once again another superstar at Wrigley Field.
