The free fall has continued for the Chicago Cubs after their hot start to the season during the month of April. The Cubs are on yet another losing streak as the team has lost three games in a row with their latest loss occurring on Saturday night as they fell to the Cincinnati Reds 8-5.

The Cubs had a 4-1 lead in the game but veteran starting pitcher Jameson Taillon was unable to find success with the lead as he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits in 4.2 innings of work. The Cubs have now lost every game that Taillon has started this season.

With their latest loss on Saturday, the Cubs moved into a territory they were hoping to avoid during the 2023 Major League Baseball season. Entering play on Sunday, the Cubs have a record of 22-29 and that is the worst mark in the National League.

For the Cubs, their struggles are tied directly to the inconsistency of Taillon and rookie starting pitcher Hayden Wesneski along with the bullpen's inability to get outs in high-leverage situations. The signings of Taillon along with relievers Michael Fulmer and Brad Boxberger are nothing but failures at this point.

The Cubs' play during the past month has been embarrassing. There is no other way around that fact. To make things worse, the Cubs are even embarrassing themselves in situations that don't occur on the field.

During Saturday's game against the Reds, the Cubs were offering a Billy Williams bobblehead to fans in attendance. Williams, of course, had a Hall of Fame career with the Cubs while wearing the No. 26 and it is a number that the team has since retired. Apparently, Williams' bobblehead isn't even allowed to don the number either.

Yeah, the lows may just be starting for the Cubs this season.
