2. Shane Greene
I mean this would be a downright crazy decision but if the shoe fits. Shane Greene signed a minor league deal with the Cubs in late June. The former Brave and Dodger is trying to have a career renaissance with the Iowa Cubs as he's started four games with a 2.84 ERA. Although he's only thrown 12.2 innings and walked seven batters in the process, it could be time to see if Greene can still bring it in MLB especially because he was stretched out to five innings in his most recent start.
Greene has had some successful years on winning ball clubs, most notably as the Braves' set-up man in 2019 and 2020. Greene hasn't been a starter since 2015 so this is probably the riskiest option in front of the Cubs right now but hey crazier things have happened and I'm tired of Smyly losing us ballgames.
