The true sign that baseball season is around the corner is that MLB The Show is gearing up for the annual release of their highly-anticipated video game.
We've already touched on the Chicago Cubs legends that we would like to see in the game, and we also touched on how MLB The Show 25 is already setting fans up for the realistic expectation that Kyle Tucker is leaving via free agency after this season.
Of course, if nothing else, fans will have at least one season of playing with Tucker in a Cubs uniform. On Wednesday, the team over at MLB The Show 25 revealed the top players on each team. It's no surprise that Tucker earned the top spot on the Cubs' roster.

Top Chicago Cubs players revealed in MLB The Show 25
Tucker is the only player on the Cubs' roster with a rating in 90s, landing at 93 on the opening roster set. Note that ratings can fluctuate throughout the season with roster updates. The ratings are based on real-life production. If Tucker proves to be healthy for the full season in 2025, it would be no surprise to see him creep up toward the mid-90s.
The Cubs have a trio of players with an 86 rating. Those players are Seiya Suzuki, Justin Steele, and Dansby Swanson. For Suzuki, he feels like the true breakout candidate of the group. If Suzuki can put together a season where he is completely healthy, now focusing as the team's designated hitter, he may quickly become one of the best offensive players in the game. Swanson could also see a bump if he proves that the second half of his 2024 season is the true indicator of what to expect from his offensive production.
However, we would be remised if we did not mention an egregious error made by the team at MLB The Show 25. In highlighting the players with 90+ speed and 90+ steal ratings, there was a very notable omission.

Pete Crow-Armstrong was nowhere to be found. The fact that Crow-Armstrong was left off this list was immediately mentioned by the MLB The Show fans watching the ratings reveal in the chat. The defense from the team at MLB The Show 25 was that Crow-Armstrong hasn't proven to be a successful base stealer at the Major League level. That defense does not add up. Crow-Armstrong was 22-for-22 at stolen base attempts at one point during the 2024 season, 4 away from the rookie record of 26-for-26. Crow-Armstrong finished the season with 27 steals, while only being caught 3 times. So no, there is no logical reason for why Crow-Armstrong should have been left off this list.
