The signing of Alex Bregman and the trade for Edward Cabrera during the offseason were moves that cemented the Chicago Cubs' identity. At the heart of their success, the Cubs are a team that prevents runs. While Swanson was snubbed last year, Nico Hoerner, Ian Happ, and Pete Crow-Armstrong took home Gold Glove honors. The Cubs also won the team Gold Glove. Needless to say, when Wilson has their annual Glove Day in Chicago, it's going to get noticed.
Hoerner, Swanson, Crow-Armstrong, first baseman Michael Busch, and starting pitcher Matthew Boyd are among the Cubs players who use a Wilson glove, and they were all featured in a hype reel for 2026 Chicago Wilson Glove Day.

Watch the video for an extended look at Hoerner's glove (it's beautiful), and Pete Crow-Armstrong, but stay tuned to the video for the subtle endorsement that Swanson gave for a Nico Hoerner contract extension while talking about the connection between the two.
"We've developed it over the years. A lot of that just comes from hanging out at the field together, hanging out together off the field, communicating on the field. We have a good sense of the kind of strengths of each other."
Dansby Swanson may have just revealed the real reason why the Cubs should extend Nico Hoerner.
If run prevention truly is the model for which the Cubs want to have sustained success, Swanson just laid out the reasons why Jed Hoyer and Co. should prioritize an extension for Hoerner. Since Swanson's arrival in 2023, the combination of him and Hoerner has been among the best middle-infield tandems in all of baseball.
Sure, Matt Shaw was a Gold Glove candidate at third base last year, but replacing the chemistry between Swanson and Hoerner in the middle infield isn't something that can be accomplished in one season. It takes years to build the instincts that Hoerner and Swanson have with one another.
Now add to the fact that the Cubs have arguably the best fielder in the game with Crow-Armstrong in center field, and it's a core that should stay in place for years to come. Not to mention, Bregman being a Gold Glove candidate at first base and Busch being an ascending glove at first base.
At the end of the day, the goal is always extend Hoerner. Wilson's Glove Day is the latest proof of that.
