Coming off an electric showing from Pete Crow-Armstrong on Tuesday night, the Chicago Cubs are looking to further the Milwaukee Brewers' descent down the National League Central standings on Wednesday night. Entering play on Wednesday night, the Cubs are in first place in the division and hold a 6.5-game lead over the Brewers. Another victory by the Cubs on Wednesday, and it would seem that the Brewers will be pushed closer to selling at the trade deadline. Unfortunately, Wednesday night's game was impacted by the weather

As it stood, Wednesday's game was scheduled to be the second start of Jacob Misiorowski's career. Misiorowski is the Brewers' top pitching prospect and looked excellent in his Major League debut last week. For the Cubs, Jameson Taillon was scheduled to take the mound. Given the injuries to Justin Steele and Shota Imanaga, Taillon has been the unsung hero of the Cubs' rotation this season.

However, the matchup will have to wait as the game was officially postponed due to rain

While storms have persisted around Wrigley Field for most of the day, the hope was that the two teams would be able to sneak the game in, if not for a delay at the original start time. Despite the storms that have been in the area throughout the day, the radar suggested the rain should be tapering off around an hour after the original start time of the game. Nevertheless, the game won't be played tonight.

Cubs vs. Brewers Postponed 6/18 - when is the makeup game?

The makeup game between the two teams will be on August 18. It will be a split doubleheader with Game 1 taking place at 1:20 pm, and Game 2 taking place at 7:05 pm.

The silver lining for the Cubs is that they are not playing a doubleheader on Thursday. The Cubs are in the middle of a stretch of the season where they have very few off days until the end of the month. The Cubs and Brewers will wrap up their series this week with an afternoon game on Thursday at Wrigley Field. No word yet on whether the scheduled pitching matchup from tonight will take place on Thursday.
