The 2024 season for the Chicago Cubs is certainly not a fun one to look back on. The Cubs finished at 83-79 for a second consecutive season and missed the postseason for a fourth straight year.
When looking back at the roster, several often-overlooked and forgotten players who made appearances for Chicago have since moved on to new teams in 2025.
Here is a check-in on three of those players who appeared for the Cubs last season.
Miles Mastrobouni, Seattle Mariners
Miles Mastrobouni never quite panned out the way the organization had thought he would, and 2024 signaled the end of his two-year stretch with the Cubs.
He was said to have found his power stroke in the minor leagues, signaled by his 20 home runs in the minors in 2022. He hit just one homer in two seasons for Chicago and was traded prior to the 2025 season.
Mastrobouni is now a member of the Seattle Mariners and has appeared in 41 games this season for Seattle. He has a .228 average with a home run and 8 RBI in 92 at-bats. He's worked 12 walks, which has helped his on-base percentage get up to .314 for the season.
He is on pace to perform a touch above what he did in either of his seasons in Chicago.

Jorge López, Washington Nationals
Jorge López stopped in Chicago for a cup of coffee last season and actually became reliable and one of the high-leverage relief arms over the last month and a half of the season.
He has now departed and is in the nation's capital, and has one of the more interesting stat lines of any player this season.
López is a perfect 6-0 out of the bullpen this season but has a 6.57 ERA and a -0.5 WAR. He's allowed 18 runs across 26 appearances and 24 2/3 innings. Additionally, he has one save and was in the midst of five straight scoreless appearances prior to allowing a pair of runs his last time out.
If he can run of a stretch of scoreless outings to help lower that ERA and ease some early-season fears about his start, López could be an intriguing trade candidate for the Cubs, should they decide to explore the relief pitching market at the deadline.
Hunter Bigge, Tampa Bay Rays
Hunter Bigge was included with Christopher Morel in the trade package that helped the Cubs acquire Isaac Paredes from the Tampa Bay Rays prior to the trade deadline last season.
He's done solid work for Tampa Bay this season with a 2.40 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 13 appearances and 15 innings pitched. He's allowed four runs, and all four of those have come on solo home runs.
Take away the home run ball, and Bigge would have a 0.00 ERA and be considered one of the best relievers in baseball this season. Chicago could sure use a high-leverage reliever in a season where it ranks 21st in Wins Above Average from relief pitchers.
One of the biggest situations for Hunter Bigge’s in a Rays uniform and he strikes out one of the best hitters in baseball with a filthy slider.

Really encouraging, he got 3 whiffs with his slider that AB. pic.twitter.com/hFhogGFzzW
