Brewers manager Pat Murphy just gave Craig Counsell the blueprint Cubs fans are looking for

It shouldn't be that hard

Craig Counsell's approval rating with Chicago Cubs fans may have dipped to a new low during the team's ten-game losing streak. Fair or not, Counsell has taking on a heavy share of the blame for the Cubs' struggles over the last two weeks, and it's partially tied to the idea that he keeps a level head while speaking with reporters.

The argument for Counsell's approach is that there's little he can say publicly that would correct what has plagued the Cubs during this losing streak. Already faced with a lack of pitching depth, the Cubs have question marks littered throughout their pitching staff, and the offense isn't just struggling with runners in scoring position, they're struggling overall.

That being said, if nothing else, fans just want to know that Counsell is equally as frustrated as they are with how the Cubs have been playing. It's also why Cubs fans likely took note of how Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy reacted to Brewers' relief pitcher Abner Uribe's celebration against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.

It shouldn't be a surprise to Cubs fans to see that Uribe finally rubbed someone the wrong way. Uribe certainly has worn his emotions on his sleeve during his ascension in the Brewers' bullpen. Often after recording the final out of a game, Uribe has some form of celebration that sees him holstering a sword.

That wasn't the case against the Cardinals as he revealed a celebration that paid homage to DX from WWE. Not exactly the best of looks, especially when the taunt was aimed toward the Cardinals' dugout.

Another lesson Craig Counsell didn't learn from Pat Murphy

It was an odd look for everyone involved, and it certainly did Uribe's teammates no favors, considering the risk of retaliation. That is likely one of the reasons why Murphy didn't shy away from criticizing Uribe after the game.

"I don't know what got over him. I mean, he's been an emotional guy, but that kind of thing, that's just not how we do things," Murphy told reporters. "I was embarrassed by it. Why are we doing it? It's a 6-0 game. What are we doing there?"

In the same press conference, Murphy also defended the person that he believes Uribe to be. It was a reminder that if done right, a manager can thread the needle between calling a player out publicly while being critical of something they've done.

It feels like that's a minimal bar Counsell should be able to clear during this stretch of play from the Cubs. Instead, he sounds like someone running out of answers.
