Chicago Cubs: 4 prospects who could make an impact soon – #2: Brennen Davis
Brennen Davis’ success has been well noted. He is currently the number two prospect in the Cubs organization, playing for the Double-A Tennessee Smokies. After a recent cold streak that saw Davis go 0-for-12, he has once again adjusted going four for his last eight with three doubles and a home run.
His accolades thus far have been well documented. He received Futures Game MVP this year, blasting two home runs during All-Star Weekend at Coors Field. He currently has plus grades of hitting, power, speed, arm strength and fielding, giving him true potential of being a five-tool player in MLB – something the overwhelming majority of players never achieve.
Davis has spent a total of 53 games at the Double-A level this season, slashing .264/.381/.522 with 12 home runs and 36 driven in between Double-A and High-A. Should Davis keep improving, it would be nice to see him make it to Triple-A by the end of the season and receive a spring training invite next year. The young outfielder also currently has a big league ETA of 2022, as well.
