Cubs: Scorching hot Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant are leading the charge
In all the hubbub and furor about whether or not to offer Javy Baez a Lake Michigan-sized boatload of money, I hope the Cubs haven’t lost sight of what the affectionately-nicknamed duo of Bryzzo is doing right now.
At first and third, the infield corners, Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo are leading the Cubs back to respectability.
Cubs: Bracketing the infield with a pair of MVP-quality talents
Bryant is hitting everything on the nose while playing well in whatever position he’s inserted into. Yes, he’s best known as a third baseman but he can play first, and he shines in the outfield too.
Rizzo is solid at first and as far as his hitting goes, don’t forget, his favorite month, May, is nearly here. He always heats up when the flowers bloom. He has held down the right corner for the Cubs for eleven years now and looks to be ready to do so again in 2021.

In the team’s climb back to .500, Bryant and Rizzo have been pivotal. Are you watching and listening Cubs management? Start now to make sure this dynamic duo stays in Cubbie blue!
Anyone can see the value of these two
The flexibility that Bryant brings to the team can’t be ignored. He greatly increases the attractive choices available to manager David Ross. Adding to that the fact that his award-winning bat seems to have returned to form and he becomes a valuable commodity indeed.
Rizzo’s value cannot be denied. You have only to look at the now infamous ‘Frederick!’ clip against the Braves, when Atlanta first baseman Freddie Freeman was hung out to dry, to see the kind of humor Rizzo brings. This kind of influence helps keep everyone loose a necessity in trying times. This guy is a clubhouse gem, and that would be the case even if he wasn’t a solid force in the field.
It’s time Jed Hoyer, Ricketts family, et al; bring these two back into the fold. Their worth is not to be denied/ Make legitimate offers before the All-Star break to ensure that the electric duo Bryzzo continues to shine for the Cubs for years to come.
