With all parts playing significant roles in the last couple wins, the Chicago Cubs look like they are ready for something special.

After the crosstown series between the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox, the Cubs have looked like a different team. With the players, the fans expected to be playing a major role in this year’s season, finally showing their worth as the starters have rolled the entire season with a few slip-ups in between wins. But the main problem was the bats from the top of the lineup, but that has changed.

Ian Happ being the leading hitter this season was utterly unexpected. There was always an unexpected upside to him, but nobody expected him to be in the race for the NL MVP this season.

But the heart of our lineup struggled at the start of the season with Kris Bryant only doing so much before going on the IL, with Jason Heyward and Javier Baez also struggling to get the bats going at the start of the season. And even Willson Contreras also had a tough start to this year. But now the gears are rolling and they are looking dangerous.

With the players having a historic game against the Reds last week and getting a great win against the Cardinals on Friday, this season looks like we may compete in the late months. With a huge series this weekend to be finished up against the Cardinals, the team looks to keep their spot atop the NL Central with their current 4 1/2 game lead on the Brewers and the Cardinals.

Once Happ returns (right eye contusion), this team will have all of its starters from the start of the season, and that may help come late stages to have every one the Cubs need to be healthy.

Can they do something special this year? Or will this be another season where we could have and should have?
