While former Chicago Cubs’ starter Jake Arrieta continues to look for a home, the Philadelphia Phillies make sense. And Tom Ricketts sent a clear message to the Cubs, to get back to the World Series.

Former Chicago Cubs’ ace Jake Arrieta is “having dialogue” with the Philadelphia Phillies. If this surprises you, it shouldn’t. Arrieta is looking for a pretty big payday, and the Phillies might be able to get him not for a steal, but a better bargain than they might have thought. Having Arrieta on a young staff as a proven winner could help shift the fortunes of the Phils. The only question is can the Phillies and Scott Boras come to an agreement?

When owner Tom Ricketts met with the team before the first full-team workout, he was very clear. He’s ready to go back to the World Series. That’s not to say that if they don’t, it’s a lost season. But the Cubs know that the championship window is open–and they need to sneak through it as many times as they can before it closes.

The Cubs have assembled a strong roster heading into the 2018 season. While there are always holes in it, no one ever likes to think of them. Well, we do. We took a look at four things that could derail the Cubs World Series hopes and ways that they can combat it. And, to be honest, many of these are the same that every team has to deal with throughout the season.
