The Chicago Cubs will host Game 4 on Wednesday after Tuesday’s game was postponed due to inclement weather. This was the right choice, except that MLB could have made this happen much sooner.

When the Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals game was canceled due to inclement weather, most saw this as an advantage for the Nats. Everyone fully expected Dusty Baker to go with Stephen Strasburg, who would benefit from the extra day of rest. But the drama of Dusty continues, as it appears that won’t be the case. And now many of his players seem to be sick from the amount of mold in the hotel. Really, Dusty?

While the Nationals won’t change the rotation with the rain out, neither will the Cubs. But Joe Maddon was going with Jake Arrieta either way. A win will guarantee Arrieta another start as a Chicago Cub. It won’t be an easy task as his ERA is 5.48 against the Nationals–the highest against any opponent. Like Max Scherzer, Arrieta is coming off of a hamstring injury. How he pitches is anyone’s guess, but we’ll take our chances with him over Tanner Roark.

Should the Cubs finish off the Nationals, they’ll have a familiar foe in the NLCS. The Los Angeles Dodgers await them as they advanced after beating the Arizona Diamondbacks. Earlier this season, Dave Roberts commented how he felt the Dodgers were a “better team” than the Cubs. Not an unfair assessment, especially at that time. The Dodgers seemed destined for 125 wins, and the Cubs were scuffling in the middle of the pack in the Central. Now Roberts might get the chance to prove it soon.
