Rockies looking to add, add, add

With two months left in the season, the Colorado Rockies control a postseason spot in the National League. Colorado sits six games ahead of the Brewers for the second wild card spot. The Los Angeles Dodgers seem poised to run away with the West, so it comes down to controlling one of these two spots.

With that in mind, the club aims to shore up matters behind the dish.

Ryan Hanigan and Tony Wolters currently handle catching duties for the Rockies. Hanigan, 36, has appeared in just 23 games this season. Wolters, meanwhile, has no postseason experience to his credit. Adding someone like Lucroy to the mix could help add a spark to the offense and also provide a veteran presence behind the plate.

Despite putting up some of the worst numbers of his career, the Rangers’ backstop is coming off a standout performance in 2016. He hit a career-high 24 long-balls between Milwaukee and Texas last season. Putting him in Coors Field may be just the shot in the arm he needs to get back on-track.
