In a victory that rivals the Chicago Cubs’ Game 7 World Series win, David Ross and Lindsay Arnold danced their way into the  Dancing with the Stars finals.

Never underestimate the power of Chicago Cubs fans.

Thanks to votes from Cubs Nation, David Ross and Lindsay Arnold shocked the ballroom and the nation Monday night. The couple advanced to the finals of this season of Dancing with the Stars, overcoming Olympian Simone Biles.

The gold medal gymnast threw not one, but two perfect scores Monday. And it was all for naught, as Biles and partner Sasha Farber were eliminated after falling in the bottom two. Judges, fans and even the contestants themselves had looks of disbelief on their faces as the credits rolled and Ross advanced.

Opening the night with a Foxtrot, #TeamLadyAndTheGramp impressed. Looking dapper as ever, Ross and Arnold came in with the fourth-best score. Granted, there are only four remaining couples, but, as usual, they received compliments from the judges.

The panel appreciated the growth over the course of the season. From Week One, he’s gone from a baseball player trying to dance to a legitimate contender in the competition.

In his dance dedicated to his friends and family, Ross tied his best single-dance score of the entire season, coming in at a 36. Had Carrie Ann Inaba not docked a point for a ‘lift’ in the couple’s tango, they would have earned a 10 in there. Instead, they left happy with straight nines.

As Ross and Arnold finished their performance, a photograph of the entire Ross family at the Cubs’ Family Day appeared, bringing the lovable former catcher to tears as he embraced his partner and dance daughter.

All the judges commented on the amount of improvement Ross has shown this season, referring to him as the reason the show exists. There’s definitely no one who showed as much growth as a dancer as Ross – and it has not gone unnoticed.
