The Chicago Cubs bats came alive in support of Jon Lester as they took town the Phillies 8-3. The Cubs bullpen was equally as impressive in the victory.

The Chicago Cubs‘ Jon Lester picked up his first win of the year, and he got plenty of help from the offense. Javier Baez was 4-for-4, just a double away from hitting for the cycle. And Kyle Schwarber hit a three-run shot as the Cubs’ returned the favor from last night with an 8-3 win.

When the Cubs’ Joe Maddon decided to put Kyle Schwarber in the leadoff spot, many fans were concerned. The logic made sense, though. He’s a patient hitter that can work a walk and get on base in front of the likes of Kris Bryant, Ben Zobrist and Anthony Rizzo. But so far this season, the results haven’t been there. Is it time to pull the plug on the Schwarber experiment?

There is much debate withing the digital walls of Cubbies Crib. The Cubs appear to need pitching. And Ian Happ–among others–could net a solid haul. But is dealing him the best plan? I’m taking the “keep him” side, as staff writer Andrew Colvert makes the case to deal him for pitching. There is a case for both sides, and we’ll do our best to make our case for the jury–also known as our readers.
