It was fitting the Chicago Cubs had to wait out a rain delay before getting to raise to raise their championship banner. But in the end–for those that stayed up–the night was worth it. The banner went up and the “W” followed it after an Anthony Rizzo walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth.

It was a little bit of rain that set the stage for the Chicago Cubs‘ Game 7 win in the World Series. So why not have just a little more on the night of the banner-raising celebration. The rain lasted an hour, but it was a glorious night of celebration that ended with an Anthony Rizzo walk-off single in the ninth off Kenley Jansen to lead the Cubs to a 3-2 victory.

ESPN play-by-play commentator Dan Shulman spent a few minutes talking with our Corey Francis about the Cubs celebration, potential of the Dodgers and Cubs meeting again in the NLCS and the Cubs play to start the 2017 season. Shulman admits that you don’t have to necessarily be a Cubs’ fan to know how important the pomp and circumstance is to the people of Chicago.

Former Cubs’ catcher David Ross continues his journey on Dancing with the Stars, and he honored his Cubs teammates on Monday’s show. Ross danced to his walk-up song from last year “Forever Young” as the team watched on the jumbotron prior to Monday’s banner raising. Ross will be flying in to be part of the ring ceremony that will take place on Wednesday, including throwing out the first pitch.
