With his recent comments in an interview, the chances of the Chicago Cubs and Sammy Sosa repairing their relationship may now be over. The Cubs have reportedly decided to “close the door” on any chance of a reunion.

Say it ain’t so, Sammy. After talk that the Chicago Cubs could be nearing an end to the exile of Sammy Sosa, he did an interview with blogger Chuck Wasserstrom that left the Cubs–among others–scratching their heads. If you hadn’t read some of the bizarre statements that he made, be sure to check those out to be absolutely floored by his responses.

There are many new faces out in Mesa, especially when it comes to pitchers. While there aren’t many spots available, there’s one name that could help pull it all together for the Cubs–if he can stay healthy. That’s easier said than done. Brett Anderson could be the key if he can avoid the DL and grab the fifth–or sixth–rotation spot.

With the heavy workload the rotation carried because of the playoffs, many of the key arms for the Cubs won’t see action until the second week of Spring Training. So for the first four games, it’ll be some of the pitchers competing for the final spot in the rotation–or at least depth behind it. Mike Montgomery leads the way, but the job might not be his just yet.
