The Chicago Cubs may have another young pitching option after the Padres non-tendered Tyson Ross on Friday. The Cubs pursued him over the past two season, but now he’s coming back from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery.

Many have assumed that if the Chicago Cubs were to add a young pitcher, it would be via trade. But after the Padres non-tendered Tyson Ross, the Cubs may have another route they can go. The Cubs pursued him at the trade deadline in 2014 and then again during the offseason in 2015. Ross pitched in just one game before having thoracic outlet syndrome surgery in October. His recovery time should have him ready for Opening Day if the Cubs decide to go in that direction.

With a new CBA in place, the Winter Meetings will proceed this week. If you believe what the Cubs front office says, it’ll be a boring week. As far as signing a big free agent? That’s probably true. But that doesn’t mean the Cubs are going to sit on their hands. We’ve got a list of what the Cubs hope to accomplish at this year’s meetings. While the core is set, there’s still some work to be done.

Chicago native Dwyane Wade and former teammate LeBron James put a little wager on the World Series that James probably thought was in the bag after the Indians went up 3-1. But we know how it ended, and James showed up for the Bulls v. Cavs game at the United Center in a full Cubs uniform. Wade gave him the hardest time possible, but James was a good sport about it. Bonus? Bulls beat the Cavs that night.
