For the first time this spring, the Chicago Cubs had themselves an off-day after defeating the Royals 5-2 on Sunday. They’ll be on the road for three consecutive days which will include a double-header on Wednesday.
The future is bright. This is something that we all can agree on when discussing the Chicago Cubs who jumped from one of the worst teams in 2014 to third best in 2015.
We’ve witnessed the big league debuts of Tsuyoshi Wada, Kyle Hendricks, Arismendy Alcantara, Neil Ramirez, Javier Baez, Jorge Soler, Kyle Schwarber, Addison Russell and Kris Bryant over the past two seasons. But there’s more up and coming superstars waiting to make the same impact as the names that were listed.
A few being outfielder’s Albert Almora and Billy McKinney and catcher Willson Contreras. Contreras is considered the top catching prospect in all of professional baseball but will spend a little bit more time within the farm system.

On Wednesday, the future of two organizations will square off following the afternoon showdown between the Cubs and Texas Rangers according to William Boor of MLB.com
Last year, the Cubs entered the campaign with the best farm system in the league. That’s when they had Bryant, Schwarber, and Russell representing the Triple-A Iowa Cubs.
As reported by Baseball America back in February, Joe Maddon‘s Cubbies minor league system has gone down 19 spots. They were 4th in 2014, 13th in 2013, 14th in 2012 and 8th in 2011.
With the Top 10 having the Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox and Washington Nationals sitting near the top of the list, the Texas Rangers made the cut.
Leading the charge for Texas is both infielder Jurickson Profar and Joey Gallo. Two young stars who turned heads during their brief major league appearances.
Profar was brought up at the age of 19 back in 2012 but picked up most of his experience in 2013 when he appeared in 85 games.
Both men were recently optioned to Triple-A Round Rock along with Nomar Mazara on Monday. As noted in Mr. Boor’s article regarding the Futures Game between these two organizations, one ticket will allow you to attend both games.
It’ll help raise money for the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Cubs Charities Diamond Project which focuses on children. Whether they are in need or want to play the sport of baseball, the money will help them with whatever they need to help make their lives happier.
