We’re just a day away from entering the New Year and only two months away until the Chicago Cubs and the rest of the league report to their respected training camps.
Knowing that Cactus League play is just around the corner has fans buzzing even more after Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer added several huge pieces to this lineup that reached the National League Championship Series.
But while Jason Heyward and Kyle Schwarber appear to be locked in both left and center field, what does the future hold for right fielder, Jorge Soler?

The fact that the Cubs may be interested in former Washington Nationals outfielder Denard Span raises some questions that may or may not be answered over the next few weeks. Or even, at least, a month until it’s time for exhibition play.
If, the Cubs, did sign Span, that could mean Jorge Soler’s run on the North Side of Chicago could result in him being shipped away for another pitcher — the same thing happened to infielder Starlin Castro when he was dealt to the New York Yankees.
Personally, I’m not expecting Epstein to throw out another decent size contract to an outfielder when Soler is perfectly fine where he is. Jorge surprised everyone with his fantastic postseason performance during the National League Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
So, for those of you who may be shouting at your monitor, there is no reason to worry.
