Morning Marquee: Chicago Cubs not done making moves just yet
We’re officially a few days out from the exit of veteran infielder Starlin Castro and things seem to be settling pretty well. While the Chicago Cubs added a few key additions such as John Lackey and Ben Zobrist, who else could they bring in this offseason that would help them bring home a World Series title?
There are several names floating out there such as Yoenis Cespedes, Alex Gordon, Jason Heyward, Justin Upton, and Johnny Cueto. It’s surprising that neither one was picked up during the winter meetings, but something is going to happen sooner or later.
At least, you would think so.

Now according to FOX Sports, the Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Washington Nationals appear to be the three front-runners for lefty Heyward, who turned in a fantastic first year with the N.L. Central winning Redbirds.
It makes sense knowing that each franchise will be competing against each other since they need to fill in that gap in center field. Washington is without Denard Span — another name that could be on Chicago’s radar if Heyward decides to sign with either the Cardinals or Nationals.
Watching Jason in the batter’s box was a bit nerve-wracking only because it felt like he was always on base. That’s someone you want in your lineup, especially in one of the toughest divisions, if not the toughest division in all of professional baseball.
Hopefully, Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer will be the ones who emerge victorious in that sweepstakes, but it would be nice to have Dexter Fowler return to the North Sie of Chicago. He quickly became a fan favorite and a handful of Cubs faithful have reached out to him via twitter.
We’ll just have to wait and see where Fowler’s heart stands.
