The Cubs need to find a centerfielder officially after Fowler rejects QO
The Chicago Cubs have fewer questions entering this offseason than in the past, but the ones they do have seems to loom large for a team that will have elevated expectations. We all know the Cubs will add pitching, but centerfield will also be a sticking point this offseason with Dexter Fowler turning down his qualifying offer. Will they look to find a stopgap solution already on the roster? Trade for someone? All legitimate questions.

Austin Jackson is a name that probably won’t be an answer, but his depth towards the end of the season was a valuable addition to the Cubs. Once a top prospect for the Tigers, Jackson has fallen into more of a “role player” position but still has great value to any team he plays for. That could still be the Cubs depending on how this search for a centerfielder pans out.
Early rounds of awards have been made, and the Cubs came up empty in the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove Awards. While the team has come up empty so far the good stuff is yet to come. The Cubs appear to have frontrunners for the Cy Young, Rookie of the Year and Manager of the Year awards. Anthony Rizzo should also at least place well in the vote for MVP, but that award looks to be Bryce Harper‘s.
