There is no unanimous here

The purpose of this wasn’t to say Greinke isn’t deserving of the Cy Young, or that Arrieta should win it. Simply put, it’s about Arrieta once again getting the short end of the stick. He was passed over for the All-Star game, and it took his no-hitter to start getting more press as an “honorable mention” for the award.

Arrieta has earned his place as a front-runner for this award, but much of the mainstream media is blinded by Dodger blue. It’s all about Greinke and Kershaw. There’s still some time left in this season. If Greinke stumbles and Arrieta doesn’t, then what are they going to say? And if Arrieta continues to lower that ERA to below 2.00? Can it still be Greinke’s to lose?

The Cubs are in the middle of an unexpected playoff push, and Arrieta’s performances have been right in the middle of it. I’m not sure anything else can scream Cy Young more than putting the Cubs in the playoffs than that.
