The biggest Chicago Cubs-related news came late Monday night, when several sources reported that the team’s fifth-ranked prospect, Jorge Soler, was promoted and would join the club Wednesday in Cincinnati.

In other Cubs-related news, 2014 first-round pick Kyle Schwarber continued his torrid hitting, which has netted him Florida State League Player of the Week honors after he homered in five consecutive contests. At the big league level, Chicago will kick off a set against the Reds on Tuesday night, with first pitch slated for 6:05 p.m. CT.

After falling out of first place in the American League West, the Oakland Athletics turned to former Cubs right-hander Jeff Samardzija on Monday night and he did not disappoint, striking out ten and leading the A’s to a much-needed win that propelled the club back into first place in the division.

The New York Yankees rattled off another win – pushing their current streak to five games, Giancarlo Stanton clubbed his 150th career home run in a Marlins win and injuries continue to amass for the Texas Rangers who have lost offseason acquisition Shin-Soo Choo for the year and may lose ace Yu Darvish, as well.
