Next up you have the Iowa Cubs looking to stay above .500, taking on the Nashville Sounds.

The Cubs trailed the Sounds by the score of 1-0 until they were able to tie up the ball game during the top of the first. The tie wouldn’t last long as the Sounds would plate three runs down the bottom of the frame and pick up an insurance run during the seventh.

Starting pitcher Eric Jokisch was unable to prevent Nashville from putting balls in play. Jokisch allowed nine hits, four runs (three earned) and a home run but struck out four. He was replaced after six innings by left-hander Jeffry Antigua. Antigua would work through the final two innings of the ball game and give up his only earned run via home run.

Left fielder Josh Vitters homered during the top of the fifth inning to tie the ballgame. Nashville’s pitching would prevent the Triple-A affiliate from driving in more runs.

Winning pitcher tonight is Ariel Pena (1-2, 4.30 ERA), losing pitcher is Erick Jokisch (2-2, 3.65 ERA).

Final Score: Sounds 5, Cubs 1.

Iowa Cubs fall to 15-13 on the year.
