The Chicago Cubs dropped their third straight series as they their comeback attempt fell short against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.
To make things worse, the organization’s top prospect Javier Baez was officially placed on the seven day disabled list with an ankle sprain while taking grounders during batting practice on Friday. One bright spot for the Cubs was the return and strong performance from Welsey Wright, who had not pitched in nine days prior to Sunday’s game.
Around the league, Los Angeles Dodgers’ closer Brian Wilson is ready to come off the DL while fellow NL West pitcher Brett Anderson of the Rockies goes on the DL with a broken finger and ‘SNL’ did a hilarious sketch on Boston Red Sox’s designated hitter David Ortiz.
