The Chicago Cubs never quit as that was evidenced by their hard fought win over the Nationals on Sunday. A back and forth game ended in the Cubs favor thanks to three RBIs from Addison Russell.

More from Cubbies Crib

This is the joy of this year’s Chicago Cubs. The starting pitching has been exceptional. And on days that it isn’t quite as sharp? They still find a way to get the job done.

Kris Bryant

said “wind be damned” with a home run on a blustery day and Addison Russell had a clutch hit to lift the Cubs to an 8-5 win on Saturday. Starter

Jason Hammel

looked mortal, but still sports just a 1.85 ERA after allowing three runs in five innings of work. The Cubs will now look to sweep the NL’s second-best team with their ace

Jake Arrieta

taking the mound.

As the Cubs offseason progressed, much of the talk was how Jorge Soler and Javier Baez would come off the bench for them when they could be starters anywhere else. You didn’t hear Tommy La Stella‘s name mentioned very often, but you’re hearing it now. La Stella is off to a hot start and is giving Joe Maddon another option off the bench. It’s just an embarrassment of riches for Joe these days.

On this Mother’s Day, everyone shows their appreciation for what they have done–and baseball players aren’t any different. Mom’s were there to get them to practice, pick them up, to cheer them on and more. So while you celebrate with your mom and this Mother’s Day, see what some players have to say about their importance in their lives.
