The first week of Cactus League play is officially in the books and veteran catcher Miguel Montero has been swinging the hottest bat so far. He’s 5-for-5 entering Monday with a homer and one RBI for the Chicago Cubs who sit with a record of 1-3.

They just so happen to be sitting behind both the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates. It’s a familiar spot for this club who held the third best record in all of baseball while the Redbirds and Bucs finished with the two best.

But, as we all know, the Cubs eliminated their National League Central rivals from the postseason. With the club looking to win their first division title since 2008, they are going to need everybody to remain healthy and consistent.

Sure, someone is going to find themselves in a slump — which is typical but they have plenty of talent from the starting lineup and bench to clinch the division later on in the year.

Now with the Cubs looking to remain in the postseason picture, the Chicago White Sox are hoping to get back to the promise land. They made several moves over the offseason including a huge trade that involved third base slugger Todd Frazier from the Cincinnati Reds.

He’ll compliment the power of first baseman Jose Abreu in that lineup with Chris Sale handling his business on the mound. Like the Cubs, the White Sox are in a tough division with the Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians and World Series Champions’ Kansas City Royals.

This year is definitely going to be an exciting season to remember for both baseball teams representing the Windy City. So it’ll be interesting to see how things play out and who is on top once the regular season comes to an end.
