Think about the last time you had a dream. I am not talking about the dreams that involve unicorns, jetpacks, flying cars, or even worse, those dreams that are simply part of another dream. I am talking about the last dream you had that involved the Chicago Cubs. If your Cubs fan, the only dream that you would have about your beloved team is the year that they finally win their long-sought World Series title. That year will come, Cubs fans. In fact, the Cubs will win at least one World Series title under the Theo Epstein regime.
But lets say that Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer, Jason McLeod and company decide that the curse of the Cubs is too strong and they all decide to leave the Cubs’ organization after this season. Who is going to replace them?
That is where the Cubbies Crib contest comes into play. For the next week, I do not want to hear about moves that Epstein should make in the off-season. For this contest, Epstein is not the President of the Cubs’ baseball department. So who is in charge you ask, well that is you–the reader–come into play. For the next week, I want you to put on your general manager hat.
For this contest, you will be allowed to make three moves to the Chicago Cubs roster and/or front office. The moves could be anything from trading away Starlin Castro to replacing the brand of hot dogs that are used at Wrigley Field. Bottom-line, you will be able to make three moves that will improve the Cubs’ direction to the World Series title. Once you have consummated these three moves, you will need to email them to [email protected]. From there, the 5 perspective general managers that make the best three move will win a copy of “The Essential Games of Chicago Cubs” DVD set. Credit goes to A+E Home Entertainment and MLB Productions for this excellent DVD in addition for this wonderful opportunity.
Here is some of the insightful entertainment that is included with this set.
The dynamic between Wrigley Field, the home team Chicago Cubs, and their devoted passionate fan exceeds any normal measurements. A connection of team, place, and supporters that has stirred emotions across more than five generations and continues today. This extraordinary collection of Cubs baseball games showcases four game telecasts that feature legendary lineups spanning five decades. The first game salutes a star-studded lineup featuring four Hall of Famers, and managed by one too (Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, Billy Williams, Ferguson Jenkins, Leo Durocher)!
The second game is stunning display of immense talent, as Ryne Sanberg led a shocking defeat of the St. Louis Cardinals. Jumping ahead to 1998 the one-game NL Wild Card tiebreaker capped a remarkable summer at Wrigley as Steve Trachsel and the Cubs stifled the San Francisco Giants. Our closing game features a Kerry Wood clinching victory to propel the Lou Piniella-led Cubs to another celebration.
100% classic Cubs. 100% Wrigley Field baseball.
