As the MLB Owners Meeting are taking place in Arizona, All the GM’s are once again under one roof, but it is important to point out that this is not nearly as important as the Winter Meetings are back in December. But nonetheless Jim Hendry plans to talk to multiple teams tonight about possible player movement.

Lets take a look at some of the Teams Hendry plans to talk to.

San Diego Padre’s- The Padre’s were listed in the report above as being one of the teams that have players that interests the Cubs. Obviously the name that comes right to mind is Heath Bell, but sources close to the cubs organization have denied reports that they are pursuing him. A name to watch is 3B/ Utility Man Kevin Kouzmanoff, whom the Cubs had interest in this past season.

Colorado Rockies- The Rockies are also listed in the report, and they will likely resume talks with the Cubs regarding the Cubs interest in outfielder Ryan Spilborghs. The Cubs are interested in acquiring Spilborghs to be their fourth outfielder. It has been rumored that in return the Rockies are asking for reliever Angel Guzman, who seems to be getting shopped by the Cubs.

Toronto Blue Jays- The Jays were the last team mentioned in the report, and it is likely that the Cubs and Jays re-engage in discussions around a trade that would send Blue Jay reliever Jason Frasor to the Cubs. Now, a holdup could be Angel Guzman, whom the Jays want in return for Frasor. So the Cubs may have to decide if they want to trade Guzman to the Rockies for Spilborghs, or trade him to the Jays for Frasor.

So as you see, tonight will likely be an “all-nighter” for Cubs GM Jim Hendry, in his efforts to help improve the Cubs for next year.
