There's certainly been no love lost between Pete Crow-Armstrong and Chicago White Sox fans this season, and Crow-Armstrong got the last laugh on Monday night. After having a leadoff home run for the Cubs in the first inning, Crow-Armstrong capped off the night with a walk-off two-run home run in extra innings.
Crow-Armstrong had been in the middle of an offensive slump over the past week, but there were still signs that his struggles wouldn't last long. Crow-Armstrong collected four hits on Monday, sending a clear reminder that he's the favorite to win the National League MVP award.

Cubs get last laugh on White Sox with electric Pete Crow Armstrong walk off
After Monday night, Crow-Armstrong is now slashing .281/.379/.550 with a wRC+ 154. He's now up to 30 home runs and 31 stolen bases on the season, leaving the door open to a potential 40-40 season. Add in the reality that Crow-Armstrong is the best fielder in all of baseball, and assuming Shohei Ohtani doesn't have an extended return to pitching the regular season, the debate is essentially over.
Monday night was a reminder of just how different summers are in Chicago when both the Cubs and White Sox are angling toward a postseason appearance. From the first pitch to the moment Crow-Armstrong hit the walkoff home run, it felt like a playoff atmosphere.
Crow-Armstrong didn't provide the only theatrics of the night. The outfield bleachers turned into "Fight Night in Chicago". In what has become an unfortunate trend during games between the Cubs and Sox, the fanbases took to fisticuffs in the bleachers.

Just an incredible scene that truly represents that baseball is back in Chicago. There've been stretches where the Cubs have been good while the White Sox were rebuilding, or vice versa. But this is the first time in over five years that both teams in the middle of a postseason push during the month of August. Fighting in the stands certainly shouldn't be condoned, but that doesn't mean reactions to it are off limits. Especially when even Crow-Armstrong acknowledged the fight after the game.
While the Cubs fan clearly lost the brawl, while security was just hitting them with the "dang, that's crazy" expression, Crow-Armstrong called "game, blouses" in the tenth inning.
Monday was just the opening act. Tensions are certainly going to be equally as high on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
