It’s that time of the year again; spring training kicks off just next weekend and baseball is already right around the corner. In just over two months, the gates of Wrigley Field will open and greet fans with the sounds of cracking bats and smacking mitts and the scents of freshly mowed grass and hot dogs sizzling on the grill.
Along with the tremendous gameday experience the Cubs have to offer, I’m most excited to keep a hawk’s eye out to spot some of the most unique jerseys in the stands.
There will be more than a fair share of freshly printed Kyle Tucker jerseys to go with the staples like Ian Happ, Dansby Swanson, Seiya Suzuki, Shota Imanaga, etc., as well as the darlings of the World Series roster and prior like your Rizzos, D-Lees, A-Ram, and “Magic Man” Baez threads. But time after time, I’m always amazed to see something exotic out in the wild.
The Cubs have been no stranger to roster their fair share of fan-favorites and cult classics. The fan base fell in love with guys like Frank Schwindel, Ryan Theriot, Tony Campana and Reed Johnson. Over the past thirty years, plenty of players have made short appearances donning the Cubbie Blue pinstripes and some, if not most, often go underappreciated. Let’s highlight a few of them.
