After losing out to the Boston Red Sox in the Alex Bregman sweepstakes, the Chicago Cubs quickly moved to their backup option, signing veteran third baseman Justin Turner on Tuesday morning.

Turner will enter his 17th MLB season with his seventh different team after signing with Chicago. He will bring a veteran presence and leadership mentality that the Cubs certainly need. He will also serve as an excellent mentor for top prospect Matt Shaw, who is expected to serve as Chicago's Opening Day third baseman.

The addition of Turner will certainly make for interesting lineup choices for manager Craig Counsell and it will be intriguing to see what he does with his options. Here's our best shot as to how it may look at any given point during the season.

VS. RHP

1. Ian Happ - LF
2. Michael Busch - 1B
3. Seiya Suzuki- DH
4. Kyle Tucker - RF
5. Dansby Swanson - SS
6. Nico Hoerner - 2B
7. Pete Crow-Armstrong - CF
8. Matt Shaw - 3B
9. Miguel Amaya - C

The order of those nine names could be swapped around in any sort of order but those will be the nine players on pretty much an everyday basis for the Cubs. Suzuki and Tucker may alternate with DH/RF some days but outside of that, not much will change.

Facing left-handed pitching will more than likely bring a much different lineup from Counsell. Here's a guess at what that could look like.

VS. LHP

1. Ian Happ - LF
2. Dansby Swanson - SS
3. Seiya Suzuki - DH
4. Kyle Tucker - RF
5. Justin Turner - 1B
6. Nico Hoerner - 2B
7. Matt Shaw - 3B
8. Pete Crow-Armstrong - CF
9. Carson Kelly - C

The additions of Turner and Kelly to the lineup against left-handed pitching is something that felt desperately needed. Both have dominated left-handed pitching over their careers and the Chicago front office certainly hopes that will be the case this season.

Certainly, there will be days in which Jon Berti, Vidal Brujan and Alexander Canario find themselves in the lineup when guys need a day off, but looking at the picture of the full season, the two lineups above may very well be what Counsell decides to go with.
