Top 3 Dexter Fowler Cubs Moments: 2 - Surprise Spring Training Reunion

The Cubs had a 2015 season for the ages. They had the third-best record in baseball, clinched the NLDS at home against their arch rivals in the Cardinals and made the NLCS for the first time since 2003. While the season was special, it ended on a sour note via a sweep at the hands of the New York Mets. Just like that, Fowler's one-year deal was a thing of the past and there was little hope he'd return in 2016.

When spring training began that season, rumors were flying that Fowler had signed with the Orioles. However, Theo Epstein had a trick up his sleeve and pulled off a one-year signing without anyone knowing. One day during drills in Mesa, Epstein casually walked onto the field with Fowler, to the complete shock of the team.

This surprise was the kick-start to the 2016 season and the excitement from his teammates made his impact on and off the field abundantly clear. There was no better way to lead-off the season in which the Cubs would do the unthinkable and snap the 108-year-old World Series curse. Without this, we would never have experienced his number 1 moment as a Cub, one that fans will remember forever.
