"You go, we go," no longer. Last week, Dexter Fowler officially announced his retirement. The 36-year-old outfielder had an incredible 14 big league seasons, playing for five teams (Rockies, Astros, Cubs, Cardinals and Angels), batting .259 with an on-base-percentage of .358 and OPS of .775. He’s also a one-time All-Star and World Series champion. Fowler made an immeasurable impact in his two seasons with the Cubs so, one last time, let's take a trip down memoty lane.

Prior to joining the Cubs in 2015, Fowler spent six of his first seven seasons with the Rockies. He came to the Cubs on a one-year deal for $9.5 million in 2015 as the team geared up to compete in their first season under new manager Joe Maddon.

In the Cubs' second series of the season, Fowler made his return to Coors Field to face his former team. The clubs split the first two in the three-game set and the Cubs entered the bottom of the ninth in the rubber match, down 4-5. Fowler stepped up and, with an 0-2 count, hit a two-run bomb off LaTroy Hawkins to steal a 6-5 win along with the series.

This was Fowler’s coming out party in his first week on the team and set the stage for what was to be an incredible season in Chicago. From then on he became a staple in the leadoff spot and earned the famous “You Go, We Go” line from his teammates.

The Cubs entered Game 7 of the World Series in Cleveland set to do the unthinkable and come back from a 3-1 series deficit to win their first championship since 1908. Tensions were high on that brisk, November night as Corey Kluber took the mound for the Indians, aiming to shut down the Chicago bats in front of a packed Progressive Field crowd.

Fowler strolled up to the plate in his usual leadoff spot and on the third pitch of the game, he took Kluber deep to center for the first leadoff home run in World Series history. Many still get chills from that moment and it set the stage for one of the best Game 7's of all-time. His exhuberant trip around the bases won't soon be forgotten - and that's saying a lot when you think back at the drama of that gamge.
