The Mariners and Cubs conclude a three-game series today with a stellar pitching matchup as Logan Gilbert takes on Marcus Stroman.

Stroman, in particular, has been exceptional through two starts. He's yet to allow a single run over 12 innings while striking out 14.

I think we're in store for a pitcher's duel and love the under as a result, especially considering the struggling offenses that'll be opposing each starter.

Let's check out the odds before I break down why I'm taking the under.

Mariners vs. Cubs Odds, Run Line, and Total

Mariners vs. Cubs Prediction and Pick

I genuinely don't understand why this total is so high. Neither offense is hitting well and both pitchers are enjoying success this season. Even with good weather on the horizon, I'm happily taking the under 10 runs here and not thinking twice.

Stroman has been perhaps the NL's best pitcher so far this year, having not allowed any runs while posting a career-high 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings. On the other side, Gilbert is a player I'm expecting a big year from and he's got an impressive 2.77 xERA through two outings.

Neither offense inspires much confidence either. The Cubs are 20th in OPS (.715) and the Mariners are even worse at 26th (.665). Frankly, I expected this total to be closer to 7.5 or 8 and I'm thrilled with the value we're getting.

Back the under to improve to 7-2 in Stroman's last nine starts dating back to last season and 8-3 in Gilbert's last 11 and consider an alternate line too, as I'd play this down to 7.5.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
