The World Baseball Classic (WBC) is an international baseball tournament that was founded 17 years ago in 2006. Over the past few weeks, there have been some exciting baseball games being played. The United States is on the verge of winning back-to-back championships. Team USA is being led by a former Chicago Cubs player, Mark DeRosa.

Mark was a career journeyman/utility player who wore 8 different jerseys in a 16-year MLB career. He played two seasons with the Chicago Cubs between 2007-2008. During this stint, he hit .289 with 31 home runs, and 159 runs batted in while playing in 298 games.

In a surprise move, Mark was named Team USA’s manager with no professional coaching experience.

Since retiring, he has been working as a co-host with the MLB Network on their daily morning show, MLB Central. However, he is no stranger to this international tournament. He represented the red, white, and blue by competing in the WBC in 2009.
