On Thursday, Major League Baseball announced the 2024 MLB All-Star Game will be held at Globe Life Field, the home of the Texas Rangers. Next year's Midsummer Classic will call T-Mobile Park in Seattle home and, in 2016, Citizens Bank Park will host its first All-Star Game.

But where the 2025 festivities will be held is still up in the air - with the Cubs and iconic Wrigley Field emerging as a contender, along with Toronto, Baltimore and Atlanta, the latter of which, of course, lost the All-Star Game in 2021 over controversial voting legislation in the state of Georgia.

Of course, ever since the Ricketts family kicked off the 1060 Project, dreams of the Midsummer Classic returning to Wrigleyville for the first time since 1990 have taken hold of Cubs fans - and with that project officially wrapped up, it's now just a matter of when.

This winter, the team will continue construction on the massive new sportsbook in the lot adjacent to Wrigley Field - a move that will surely make congestion pre and post-game even worse than it already was, but, hey - it's money in ownership's pocket, right?

The thought of the entire neighborhood - and city, for that matter - rolling out the red carpet for the All-Star Game is certainly exciting. So many cities have to really work to drum up the kind of excitement that exists in Wrigleyville on any given day during the summer, so ratcheting that up another level could truly be something to behold.

Wrigley Field has played host to the All-Star Game just three times in its history: 1947, 1962 and 1990.
