Cubs vs. Mets prediction and odds for Tuesday, Aug. 8 (Trust Taillon in New York)
Jameson Taillon hasn't been good for most of the year, but lately he's been great .
By Josh Yourish

Well, the New York Mets had to win a game eventually and the Chicago Cubs couldn’t keep winning forever.
Yesterday, the Mets beat the Cubs 11-2 to end their six-game losing streak and simultaneously end a stretch of five wins in six games for the Cubs. Now, Chicago is 2.5 games behind the Brewers in the NL Central at 58-55.
The Mets are 20 games behind the Braves in the NL East at 51-61.
Today, the Cubs will send Jameson Taillon to the mound to get them back into the win column. Taillon is 6-6 with a 5.36 ERA in his 19 starts for Chicago this year and will be opposed by the even more embattled -- both on and off the field -- Carlos Carrasco. Cookie is 3-6 with a 6.60 ERA in 16 starts for New York.
Despite yesterday’s blowout loss the Cubs are favored on the road today.

Cubs vs. Mets prediction and pick
Neither Taillon or Carrasco has been particularly good this year, but at least Taillon is starting to turn things around.
Carrasco has allowed 21 runs in 15.1 innings over his last four starts. This is the worst stretch of his season so far and Taillon’s last five have been his best five.
On July 7, Taillon was in New York, but the Bronx, not Queens. He went eight scoreless innings allowing just one hit with four strikeouts. That started this great stretch for him and from that start until now he has a 2.08 ERA despite only having 23 strikeouts in 30.1 innings.
I’m willing to trust Taillon in this one and this year the Cubs have a better bullpen than the Mets.
The Cubs went a bit cold away from Wrigley Field offensively, but over the past 30 days they still have the most wins in baseball.
The Cubs are very hot, specifically Cody Bellinger who had three hits and drove in both runs in last night’s loss.
Bellinger is hitting .538 over the past week and with Bellinger and Taillon both on fire right now I’ll take the Cubs to win big.
