The Chicago Cubs squandered a six run lead on Monday in the series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers, but the team will hope veteran Kyle Hendricks can continue his fine play after starting the season on the injured list.

Chicago is a slight road underdog against the Brewers, who are tied atop the NL Central. The Cubs lineup will face left hander Wade Miley, who has some poor underlying metrics. Keep reading for our full betting preview and breakdown to see if the Cubs can bounce back.

Cubs vs. Brewers prediction and pick

Hendricks has been humming since starting the season on the injured list. He has a 2.81 ERA in seven starts as he continues to generate soft contact and string together easy outs.

He will face a Brewers lineup that is sputtering in a big way at the plate. The team has hit .226 over the last month, the second worst mark in the big leagues.

I also like this matchup for the Cubs bats. Chicago is a top 10 offense against lefties, hitting .257 against southpaws and Miley's numbers indicate that regression is coming.

While his 3.02 ERA looks strong on the surface, his xERA is 4.82 centered around his crazy high left on base percentage. Miley has stranded 82% of runners on base.

I believe the Cubs will get to Miley and the team will get back on track after blowing the big lead on Monday.
