Christopher Morel hit his ninth home run of the season Tuesday night against the Mets at Wrigley Field in the Chicago Cubs 7-2 win. Morel's blast marked his fifth consecutive game in which he hit a home run, tying a franchise record. The last Cub to hit home runs in five consecutive games was Sammy Sosa in 1998.

Wrigley went crazy as did the Cubs fans on Twitter. It wasn't long ago when people were calling for the 23-year-old to return to the lineup when he was slashing .330/.425/.730 with 11 home runs and a 1.156 OPS in Triple-A Iowa. He has brought more than just mammoth home runs, he has provided so much positive energy, which means so much to the team and the fans.

The way he plays with so much joy and passion is inspirational. It may seem corny and cliché to say, but there is truth to it. He has shown so much sportsmanship on the field as he greets everyone on the field, even the umpires! Say what you will about umpires but everyone on the field is human too. He has also been great at interacting with the Cubs staff and fans. The effort he puts into making the people around him feel good has helped make him a fan favorite.

Morel is the type of player a team like the Cubs needs. Someone who brings so much positive energy and plenty of power. Not to mention his versatility on a team that is still trying to figure some things out. His at-bats have turned into must-see TV, which brings back memories of great players past.

How Morel plays down the stretch of this long season is yet to be seen, but the confidence he will be a significant contributor grows bigger by the day. This fanbase wants to see him thrive, and he deserves to with how hard he works and how he carries himself. Cubs fans should enjoy every bit of what he brings.
