Probable Starting Pitchers

Hayden Wesneski will get the start for the Chicago Cubs on Saturday afternoon against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. Rookie first baseman Matt Mervis and second baseman Christopher Morel were important factors in the team's 6-2 victory over the Twins on Friday as Mervis plated a run on a double in the seventh inning and Morel hit a tape-measure home run in the ninth. Wesneski is aiming for his third consecutive quality start when he takes the mound against the Twins on Saturday. In his last start, Weneski allowed 1 run against the Miami Marlins in 6 innings of work while striking out 6.

Making the start for the Twins on Saturday is right-handed pitcher Joe Ryan. Ryan is off to an excellent start to the season as he has posted an ERA of 2.45 through 7 starts this season.
