The Chicago Cubs will play the second game of their doubleheader against the Miami Marlins on Saturday night.

In Game 1 of the doubleheader on Saturday, the Cubs were seemingly on their way to a 2-1 victory until Adbert Alzolay took the mound in the ninth inning. Alzolay's struggles continued as he allowed two runs en route to blowing his fourth save on the young season. For as much as the Cubs may want to chalk up Alzolay's struggles to it only being April, the fact remains that his struggles in the ninth inning can date back to September of last season.

Nonetheless, the Cubs will look to split the doubleheader tonight.

Probable starting pitchers

  • Shota Imanaga is on the mound for the Cubs tonight against the Marlins. Imanaga has been brilliant to begin his Major League career as he has yet to allow an earned run in 15.1 innings pitched this season. Given the struggles of the Marlins' offense to begin the season, the matchup should be favorable for Imanaga, especially if wind continues to blow in as it was during the afternoon game.
  • Right-handed pitcher Roddery Muñoz will be making his Major League debut for the Miami Marlins on Saturday night. Muñoz was off to a rocky start to the season with the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate in 2024 as he allowed 14 runs in 10.2 innings pitched before getting the promotion to the Major League level.
