Probable Starting Pitchers
Veteran left-handed pitcher Drew Smyly is making his third start of the season for the Chicago Cubs on Sunday and will look to build off the success that he had in his last start against the Seattle Mariners. Smyly struck out seven Mariners' hitters last Monday while allowing one run in five innings pitched. With Kyle Hendricks set to begin his minor-league rehab assignment soon, it would seem that over the course of the next few weeks, Smyly and rookie Hayden Wesneski will be pitching in an effort to keep their spot in the starting rotation.
Making the start for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday is left-handed starting pitcher Julio Urias. Urias is off to an excellent start during the 2023 season as he has victories in each of his first 3 starts this season while striking out 20 through 18 innings of work and only allowing 3 runs.
