Chicago Cubs first baseman Trey Mancini reminds everyone that he is human.

Chicago Cubs first baseman Trey Mancini made a costly error during Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals and it added more validation to the idea that the Cubs have a serious problem in regard to their first base position.

For Mancini, it sounds like a case where the veteran first baseman is thinking too much about the play and that may be impeding his decision-making on the field. It has been a tough week for the veteran first baseman defensively and as much as you want to feel for the human component, the Cubs are trying to win a division that is within their reach this season. Mancini has become a liability at the first base position and moving forward, should be relegated to designated hitter duties against left-handed pitching.

Jared Young having a breakout season with the Iowa Cubs.

if the Chicago Cubs are going to address the first base position, the team may want to give a look to Jared Young. Young had a brief stint at the Major League level for the Cubs at the end of the 2022 season and is in the middle of a breakout season with the Iowa Cubs.

Through 205 plate appearances with the I-Cubs this season, Young is slashing .329/.431/.617 with a wRC+ of 159. Young also has 13 home runs on the season.

At some point this season, it would be in the Cubs' best interest to give one of their I-Cubs' standouts a chance at the Major League level instead of Miles Mastrobuoni. Young along with I-Cubs' teammate, Yonathan Perlaza, deserve an opportunity at the Major League level given their success this season and the Cubs should be willing to offer one given their struggles at first base and designated hitter.

A promotion to Triple-A Iowa should be coming for Pete Crow-Armstrong

MLB Pipeline reset their Top-100 prospect list and Chicago Cubs' top prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong is now considered to be a Top-10 prospect in all of Major League Baseball. With Brennen Davis out the next 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery to correct his core, Crow-Armstrong should see a promotion to the Triple-A level soon.

With Double-A Tennessee this season, Crow-Armstrong is slashing .280/.363/.491 through 245 plate appearances with 9 home runs and a wRC+ of 129.
