The legend of Chicago Cubs top prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong grew on Tuesday night.

In what was a test against Major League pitching, Crow-Armstrong went 1-for-3 against rehabbing Cincinnati Reds' starting pitcher Hunter Greene on Tuesday night but it was at the bottom of the tenth inning of the Iowa Cubs' game that Crow-Armstrong provided more confirmation that he will be a superstar.

With a runner on second base, Crow-Armstrong launched his 4th home run in 11 games for the I-Cubs to give Iowa a walk-off victory. Crow-Armstrong is now slashing .289/.371/.527 with a 1.030 OPS in 54 plate appearances at the Triple-A level.

Crow-Armstrong's walk-off heroics on Tuesday night came on the same day that Cubs' general manager Carter Hawkins did not rule out the idea of the team's prospects being the position player that the team adds to the roster in September.

Hawkins also outlined the reasons why Crow-Armstrong would be a valuable addition to the roster in September.

“Pete obviously is a great defender, a good baserunner, is swinging the bat really, really well,” Hawkins said. “But there’s a lot of guys down there at Triple-A that can help this club out too. So we’ll make that decision come September.”

Typically, the rule of thumb for contending teams in September is to add a position player with speed to their roster. The idea is of having a player that can enter games as a pinch-runner and have the ability to swipe a base.

Though, there is a pathway for Crow-Armstrong to play a much larger role on the Major League team in September.

Third baseman Nick Madrigal has struggled offensively in his return from the Injured List. If those struggles continue, one path the the Cubs may take is having Jeimer Candelario play at third base with Cody Belling playing at first base while Crow-Armstrong serves as the team's center fielder. Mike Tauchman would occupy the designated hitter spot in that scenario.
