Those who have followed the Chicago Cubs for over 40 years might remember the days when fans could enjoy Coca-Cola products at Wrigley Field. From 1927-1981, Coca-Cola was sold to fans at The Friendly Confines before switching over to Pepsi for the next four decades. It has been officially announced that the Cubs are partnering with Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling, and they will be selling Coke products at the Wrigley Field concession stands again. This also includes Coke products at Gallagher Way kiosks and Sloan Park concession stands in Mesa, Arizona.

As a business partner of the Cubs, there will be Coca-Cola advertising around the ballpark. Per MLB.com's press release, Coca-Cola will be running special promotions to give fans opportunities to win prizes like Cubs tickets and participate in on-field activities and special club access.

It does not take a lot of inside research to know how big of a brand Coca-Cola is, and its popularity among the public. Not to say Pepsi provided bad products by any means, but this change should go over fine among the fans for the most part. The press release mentioned the basic products that will be served in addition to Coca-Cola® include Coca-Cola® Zero Sugar, Diet Coke®, Sprite®, Minute Maid® Lemonade, DASANI®, and smartwater®. These should be great options for families with kids and those who just rather enjoy a soft drink or water over a beer or other hard drinks during games.

Coca-Cola is one of the most recognizable brands out there, and it will be curious to see how their iconic logo is displayed around the ballpark. Obviously, it will be displayed at concession stands and in programs, but it sounds like the logo will be displayed in a number of ways inside the park and in the Gallagher Way area. The brand will probably be displayed on the video boards and along the barrier that runs in front of the center field bleachers behind the batter's eye. Just to guess a few places.

Wrigley Field joins the United Center and Guaranteed Rate Field as major sports venues in Chicago providing Coca-Cola products at their concession stands.
